Venice, 16th Architecture Biennale: 25 May 2018 – Opening of the Israel Pavilion and Shabbat Dinner at the Home of the AIMIG President

srael is participating in the Venice Architecture Biennale (16th edition). Within this context, curators Tania Coen and Oren Sagiv conceived the Israel Pavilion as a study of architectural overlap among the three religions—Jewish, Muslim, and Catholic—presented through scale models that faithfully reproduce the different historical phases of construction.
This interpretation stems from the theme Freespace assigned for this edition, which presents the public with examples, proposals, and elements—built or unbuilt—that exemplify the essential qualities of architecture: the modulation, richness, and materiality of surfaces, as well as the orchestration and sequencing of movement, thereby revealing the inherent potential and beauty of architecture.
Below you will find a selection of photographs from the Pavilion’s opening, held in the presence of the Israeli Ambassador to Rome and the curators. The inauguration was followed by a dinner hosted by Associazione degli Amici Italiani dell’Israel Museum (AIMIG) at the home of its President, attended by approximately forty guests.
